Rihanna Tickets – Rihanna, Ke$ha Set Dates for Last Girl on Earth Tour

Rihanna and Ke$ha don’t need Maxim to tell them they’re two of the hottest celebrities on the planet, but the magazine gave the radiant singers an ego boost this week anyway by proclaiming them two of the world’s top 100 most beautiful women (Rihanna at No. 6 of the Hot 100 and Ke$ha at No. 56). While both singers can give their parents a pat on the back for the favorable genes, they’ve got bigger things to spend time on this week; namely, promoting their upcoming joint tour.

Starting this July, Rihanna and Ke$ha will embark upon the fresh and funky Last Girl on Earth Tour, which will kick off July 2 in Seattle and wrap up Aug. 25 in Chicago. The “Tik Tok” singer promised MTV just as many wild and crazy antics in concert as she displayed in her most recent music video for “Your Love Is My Drug” (which features her riding an elephant, dancing with a python and wearing day-glow paint, for starters,) saying that her upcoming gig on the Last Girl on Earth Tour would exert “a dance-party vibe.” She told MTV, “I just want it to be really, really fun. Let’s just say I can’t disclose, but I have, like, a really, really awesome thing that’s going to happen… and you can only understand it if you see it in person.”

Ticket sales started in mid-May for concert stops on the Last Girl on Earth Tour, which will hit several dates on the West and East Coasts and also select cities across the Midwest including stops in Indianapolis, Detroit and Chicago. With Rihanna currently dominating the pop charts at No. 1 (as of May 12) with her smash single “Rude Boy” and Ke$ha close behind with “Your Love Is My Drug” at No. 8, these two sweet-and-sour pop princesses will rule the country this summer as they take their lovable schemes to the limit on tour together. Steve Miller Band Tours for Bingo!

The Steve Miller Band is currently touring in support of a new record, Bingo!, due out June 15th. The band will tour through the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Six Canadian stops are scheduled along the tour, as well as two dates in the U.K.

In a video released on the band’s website, Steve Miller talks about the making of Bingo!. He reminisces about experiences on stage with established musicians like Otis Redding during his early days in the Chicago music scene. The Chicago blues scene had a major impact on Miller as a musician, and in Bingo!, he has recreated his own versions of his favorite blues classics.

Bingo! is the first release from the group since Wide River in 1993. In Miller’s own words, “It’s a record to get out and dance and have a good time.”

Sonny Charles of the Checkmates has joined the group amid the untimely death of thirty-three year vocalist and harmonica player for the band, Buffalo Norton, who died late last year.

The Steve Miller Band is known best for songs like “The Joker,” “Rock n’ Me,” and “Take the Money and Run.” They had a number one hit in 1982 with “Abracadabra.”

Navy Pier

Built in 1916 as part of the city development plan, the Navy Pier is a mixed-purpose public infrastructure. Primarily used for cargo facilities, the pier also provided docking space for steamers used for passenger excursions. The outermost tip of the pier was used as a cool spot for public gatherings and entertainment in the pre-air conditioning days. Sometime ago, the Navy Pier even had a streetcar and was known to be a little lovers’ getaway in the city. The Navy Pier is 3300 feet in length and spreads alongside the Chicago shoreline of Lake Michigan.

What is commonly refereed to as the pier’s “Golden Age”, the 1950s saw the residents of Chicago gathering at the pier for a variety of events. The Navy Pier became more popular as a public meeting place than as a dockyard or cargo facility. The pier’s true use was unveiled during World War II, when it was used by the US Navy. This is why the pier, originally named as the Chicago Municipal Pier, is now known as the Navy Pier.

It was mostly used by the University of Illinois after the war, but once the university was moved to a different location, the pier was not used for a long time. From 1965 to 1989, the pier was a desolate place and the city was looking to bring it down when several authoritative figures contributed to its reconstruction. Exhibition halls were constructed and the Navy Pier became a lively public gathering place once again. The Navy Pier was renovated in the early 1990s and now houses fast food kiosks, a ballroom, concert stage, convention center and shops. The central attraction is the 150-foot ferris wheel, complemented by an IMAX theater, the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, the Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows and the Chicago Children’s Museum.

Public art sculptures, a large animated and interactive fountain, parks, gardens, restaurants, shops and various passing entertainment events lighten up the modern day Navy Pier. The most popular annual attraction at the pier is the Venetian Night festival. The Navy Pier is set to undergo more renovations soon, adding a monorail, spoke-less ferris wheel, roller coaster, floating hotel and water park.
