KELLY CLARKSON – An American Pop Singer

Kelly Brianne Clarkson is an American pop singer and songwriter. She was born on April 24, 1982 in Fort Worth, Texas. Clarkson made her debut under RCA Records after she won the first season of the television series American Idol in 2002. On winning, Clarkson performed the ballad “A Moment Like This”, the song written for the winner of American Idol, which would consequently appear on her debut album, Thankful.

When released as a single in October 2002, it set a record on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart when it rose from number 52 to number one. When Thankful was released in April 2002, it straight away rose to #1 in the U.S. billboard 200. Thankful was generally well received by critics. In 2oo4, “Miss Independent” was released as the second single from Thankful. It reached the top ten of the U.S. and Canadian singles charts, and earned Clarkson her first Grammy Award nomination for “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance”.

Her second album Breakaway was released by RCA records on 30th November 2004. The album debuted within the US top 5 and Canadian top 20. The album was a massive success and was certified 6x platinum and became only the fourth album in history to stay on the billboard 200 top 20 for a consecutive year. It also earned Clarkson her first Grammy award.

Kelly released her third album My December in 2007. It debuted at #2 in the US, beating Breakaway which debuted at #3. Her latest album all I ever wanted was released on 10th may, 2009. The first single from the album “My Life Would Suck Without You” debuted in the billboard charts at #97 and shot to #1 the following week breaking the record of the largest leap to the top slot in chart history.
